The Be You Difference

Our Mentorship

Apart from guiding you and your child through the process of selecting an international course and university, KCL takes things one step further by mentoring your child regarding all aspects of their life abroad.

Our in-house Kenyan-Australian Alumna Maggie spent 15 years studying and working in Australia and New Zealand. Her international career began in 1998 as a student. Maggie faced many unexpected challenges as an international student and is eager to share her knowledge and insights to empower her mentees to thrive. Together with alumni from Canada, the USA and the UK, the KCL team runs classes on challenges students face abroad, which we now refer to as the Be You Difference

Mentorship Classes

Successful mentorship is absolutely vital to your career success. KCL saw the need to develop strong mentorship programs and strategies for our students. We focus on identifying high-school accomplishments, skills gained from volunteering and work with you to develop your job search skills by providing assistance with tailoring cover letters, writing a dynamic and focused CV, and conducting mock interviews that will prepare you to make the best impression at a job interview.

At KCL, we know how important your mental health is to your success when studying abroad. That is why we mentor on dealing with mental health issues, depression, managing stress, building self-confidence, finding work/study balance, and time management. We also prepare you for issues you may encounter when studying abroad such as racism, an unfamiliar culture and language, and how to reach out and make professional connections and friends in your new environment.

Finding part-time work that you can fit into your class schedule is beneficial for most students. A parttime job provides much needed money, builds your CV and allows you to sharpen your job skills. Some other areas we discuss include:

Whether for your entrance essay or collegiate coursework, we teach you how to reference sources without plagiarising.
